Culpem os grandes estúdios que cada vez mais apostam nas sequelas das sequelas das sequelas… Culpem os argumentistas, os produtores ou o sistema em si. O certo é que cada vez mais os grandes nomes do cinema americano estão a fazer televisão. Primeiro com a HBO ou com a Showtime, agora com o Netflix ou com a Amazon, cineastas e actores não poupam elogios aos “grandes papeis”, às “grandes produções”, à “liberdade criativa” que a televisão lhes traz.
Não é por acaso que Woody Allen prepara uma mini-série de seis episódios para a Amazon Originals. Ou que Nicole Kidman e Reese Witherspoon começam em breve uma série para a HBO. David Lynch, já se sabe, está a trabalhar no regresso de “Twin Peaks”, seguindo o caminho feito nos últimos anos por Martin Scorsese (“Boardwalk Empire”), David Fincher (“House of Cards”), Dustin Hoffman e Nick Nolte (“Luck”) ou Steven Soderbergh e Clive Owen (“The Knick”). Há um mês estreou nos Estados Unidos (e apenas com uma semana de diferença, também em Portugal) a segunda temporada de “True Detective” com Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn e Rachel McAdams. A primeira, no ano passado, tinha reunido no pequeno ecrã Matthew McConaughey e Woody Harrelson.
Vem tudo isto a propósito das nomeações para os Emmy, os mais importantes prémios da indústria televisiva americana, anunciadas esta quinta-feira em Los Angeles. Uma lista onde encontramos os nomes de Kevin Spacey, Jessica Lange, Frances McDormand, Adrien Brody, Emma Thompson, Kathy Bates ou Timothy Hutton – só para dar exemplos de vencedores de Óscares que estão agora rendidos à televisão. Em séries, mini-séries e telefilmes, encontramos outros grandes nomes como Bill Murray, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Liev Schreiber, Paul Giamatti, Don Cheadle ou Viola Davis.
Culpem quem quiserem: é a televisão que está claramente a ganhar. Os nomes e os títulos agora anunciados provam-no bem: “A Guerra dos Tronos” é a série mais nomeada para a cerimónia do próximo dia 20 de Setembro, com 24 indicações. Já ano passado, esta série da HBO tinha liderado a corrida aos Emmy, mas com apenas 17 nomeações.
“American Horror Story: Freaks” de Ryan Murphy segue-se nas contas com vinte e o tele-filme “Olivia Kitteridge” está em terceiro lugar com treze. A HBO é a líder absoluta: conseguiu 126 nomeações para os Emmy deste ano, seguida da estação ABC com “apenas” 42!
“The Good Wife” e a sua protagonista Julianne Margolies, “A Teoria do Big Bang” e o seu magnífico Jim Parsons, “Girls” de Lena Dunham, “The Americans” ou “The Knick” são apontados como os grandes ausentes deste ano. Mas a sua ausência em detrimento de outras produções e outras interpretações são também a prova de que a televisão nos Estados Unidos está melhor do que nunca.
